IBM 8238 Token Ring Stackable Hubs

Choose from the IBM 8238-PB1, IBM 8238-PS1 and IBM 8238-PG1 Passive Token Ring Stackable Hub or the IBM 8238-AB1, IBM 8238-AS1 and IBM 8238-AG1 Active Token Ring Stackable Hub. All base units come standard with 16 RJ45 token ring ports with a maximum of 128 token ring ports via the expansion units. Passive models retime and repeat the signal in every hub for cable lengths up to 650 feet. Active models retime and repeat the signal on each port of the hub for cable lengths up to 1300 feet. The second digit of the IBM 8238 model denotes B - Bronze, S - Silver, G - Gold for the level of network management of the 8238 Token Ring Stackable Hub. The "BRONZE" level management provides SNMP support, configuration support, status data, per port basis fault reporting and RMON. The "SILVER" level management provides all the management capabilities of the "BRONZE" plus host group, ring station group, ring station order group, ring station configuration group, source routing group, event group and alarm group functions. The "GOLD" level management provides all the management capabilities of the "SILVER" plus all 13 groups of RMON and event logging.The IBM 8238 units allow up to seven active expansion or passive expansion units to each base IBM 8238 model. Multiple IBM 8238's can attach to each other via the RI and RO modules available for the units. RI/RO modules can be order for fiber or copper cabling.
